The partial drought of the late summer and Fall of 2021 may have had an impact on parts of the state. Regions that had the most dissatisfaction with the 2021 late honey crop tended to have higher loss for the winter of 2021-2022. The southern central and southeastern regions tended to be the most pleased with the 2021 honey crop and reported lower winter losses.
Small weak clusters, and starvation were the most common reasons given as the primary cause of winter hive loss.
